Expressive Sound and Breath Ritual for Women
A Call for Women to Free Our Voices Together.
Friday December 20th 1pm - 5pm
As the sun dives towards death-rebirth, we gather together as sisters to release and renew.
Breath is a primal way we are in reciprocal relationship with all life - if we remember to remember!
We are nourished by the intake of air and give our gifts back into the world as we exhale.
Sound is a technology we use to shape that giving. We infuse our breath with intention, with our innate ability to create, to craft the formless into form.
When we get frightened or overwhelmed we tense our bodies. if we don't consciously release that tension it solidifies into trauma held in various parts of our body including parts that restrict or influence our breathing. Our relationship with all of life, through breath, becomes distorted.
Those of us socialized as women carry the added burden of systemic silencing for many generations. Our voices have been banned, subdued and shushed for too long.
We can use conscious breathing and intentional sound to release tension and trauma in the body and free our voices so we can create in full alignment with all of life.
We do this together
If any of this might be going on in your life then this ritual is for you.
You will learn techniques and practices you can continue at home. But most importantly you will co-create, and be held by, a strong, safe, ritual container infused with support and guidance from the spirit world.
Together in this ritual vessel we call on the spirits to guide us as we free our voices from personal and ancestral struggles.

Kat Houghton PhD
Hi! I’m Kat. I’m a Psychologist, a Certified Professional Coach and hold certificates in Transformational Eco-Therapy and Wilderness Rites of Passage Guiding. But none of that matters too much. What matters is that I went though some really dark times in life and I learned, with the guidance of some dear elders, to work with the more-than-human world to not only find solace but to tap into a wellspring of inspiration, creativity and energy that I had no idea was available to me. I have a strong desire to share this with others and love to engage in deep, soul-work with people.
I believe that the crises our modern world faces must be tackled at all levels, law and policy, community engagement and deep personal work. I work at all these levels but the one that calls to me the strongest is the personal soul-work, each of us digging into ourselves to understand why we are here now and what medicine we carry for the world.
